The mission of the Holy Trinity Parish School Library and Media Center, in conjunction with the mission of the school, is to make available materials for educational, informational, and recreational needs and to provide instruction and guidance in the use and selection of these materials. The library strives to be an integral part of the instructional program of the school, dedicated to equipping students with life-long learning skills and providing ideas and information that are fundamental to functioning in today's information and knowledge-based society. Students are scheduled to visit the library as a class once per week and encouraged to come by before or after school, as well. Topics covered in weekly library classes for kindergarten through eighth grade are: Nonfiction and fiction, parts of a book, authors and illustrators, taking care of books, picture books, folktales and fairy tales, beginning chapter books, character issues, the Dewey Decimal system, genres, reference materials and their usage, and novels. Parents are welcome volunteers in the library each day as our library strives to provide a rich learning environment. Most importantly, our children are encouraged to love reading and books! This love is developed through enjoying stories read aloud, hands-on activities, and author and illustrator visits and studies. A highlight is the Scholastic Book Fair, which visits our library each year.
