5th Graders Use Engineering, Math, Science, & Social Studies Lessons to Design & Build Native American Homes
5th grade incorporated their knowledge of Native Americans from social
studies with how humans need to adapt to their environments in science,
as well as solving equations to find area, perimeter and volume in math.
They solved equations and drew designs before they were able to use
materials to build actual long houses and pueblos. The students were
both challenged and excited to test their engineering skills! We also love when teachers collaborate on units and lessons. This activity was a great combination of math, science, and social studies by Mrs. Cohan and Ms. Samuels.
